Sell on TikTok – update your profile!

It will soon be possible to sell via TikTok in most EU countries. So that you’re not too late, here’s what the social network of short videos that is revolutionising multimedia content on our mobiles is planning.

First of all… What is TikTok?

Do you want to sell through TikTok but don’t know this app? Despite its young age, TikTok has been one of the latest social revolutions in the digital world. Launched in 2017, this social network managed by the Chinese company ByteDance is used to publish short videos to its community, repeating in a loop once they are finished. During the pandemic, its user base grew exponentially. We have all been sent funny videos of choreographies or dances made from this application. According to the latest data provided by ByteDance, TikTok has a potential reach of 1,582 million users over the age of 18, i.e. it has an advertising reach of 19.3% of the entire world population. Demographically, 49.2% of TikTok users are female, and 71% are in the 18-34 age range.

When can I start selling via TikTok?

The demographics are impressive, aren’t they? The target of many of our customers is there, so selling through TikTok could be a very good option for all of you. From August 2023 you can sell products through the social network, but only if you are in one of these countries:

• USA
• UK
• Indonesia
• Malaysia
• Thailand
• Vietnam
• Philippines
• Singapore

For example, if we enter the seller’s portal from Spain, we are redirected to the UK website, where they are already operating. Due to the intention to block TikTok in the US, ByteDance has leaked the roadmap to follow. They want to launch online shop services soon in Mexico, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. The most optimistic projections are September 2024 in these territories, although other scenarios set the date for before the end of this year.
