MANDATORY ELEMENTS IN LABELLING – VIDEO
In this second video, our colleague Vanessa, Food Technician at LegaleGo Regulatory Food Supplements, explains the regulations, the specific requirements of each country, the mandatory elements in labelling and the importance of health claims.
We show you how to correctly label your food supplements to comply with regulatory standards, specifying the mandatory elements in the labelling, with particular emphasis on:
- Rules and regulations: There is a general regulation (regulation 1169/2011) on food information provided to the consumer. In addition, each country has its own internal regulations that must be taken into account as a mandatory elements in labeling.
- Adaptation to specific regulations: Each country may have specific requirements. For example, France has mandatory warnings for vitamins and minerals, while in Italy there are differences in the warning to keep the product out of the reach of children.
- Mandatory labeling elements: The name of the product, the product name indicating the product category, the active ingredients, the net quantity, the recommended daily dose, the instructions for use, the list of ingredients in order of weight, the table of nutritional information per daily dose, warnings, storage conditions, batch number and expiry date, and the name of the distributor.
- “Health claims: Health claims are important, but not mandatory. They must be accepted by law through specific regulations (Regulation 432/2012) or be “on hold” by EFSA.
