REQUIREMENTS FOR SELLING FOOD SUPPLEMENTS IN SPAIN – VIDEO
We present our third video. In it, our Manager and Food Law Lawyer, Sergio Oya, tells us everything you need to know to comply with the law and avoid problems when selling food supplements in Spain.
In a clear and direct way, you will learn the requirements that your company and products must have, such as the Health Registration, the Self-Control System, the different notifications and labelling. To sell food supplements in Spain, the company must be registered in the General Health Register and in the Regional Health Register if there is direct sale to the public. It is essential to have a Self-Control System or a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Plan (HACCP) that complies with hygiene standards, depending on the different activities carried out (manufacture, import, storage and distribution).
All products must be notified to the competent health authority before selling food supplements, presenting a declaration of placing on the market and the product label, which must comply with legal requirements.
In addition, Sergio explains how you can sell food supplements containing ingredients that are not allowed in Spain, using the principle of mutual recognition. For food supplements containing additional ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, substances or plants that are not authorised in Spain, you must resort to the Principle of Mutual Recognition and notify them in another EU country.
Finally, we will explain how much the Administrative Fee is depending on the Autonomous Community where the product to be sold is notified.
